Since the founding of Weed Instrument in 1968, we have been a leading player in defining and growing several unique technology markets. 2007: Awarded contract to supply nuclear qualified RTDs for the Shin Kori 3 & 4 nuclear power plants in South Korea
2007: Awarded contract to supply nuclear qualified RTDs for the Phase II expansion project of the Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant in China
2007: Awarded contract to supply nuclear qualified RTDs for units 3 and 4 of the Ling Ao Nuclear Power Plant in China
2007: Selected to supply RTDs for the Non Line Of Sight Cannon (NLOS-C) which is being developed on behalf of the US Army Future Combat System (FCS)
2007: Selected to supply T1.2 and T2.5 RTDs for the General Electric GEnx (General Electric Next-generation) engine – the primary propulsion for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and 747-8 aircraft
2006: Nuclear qualification of the Model N9355 Rapid Response RTD to the French RCC-E “K2” standard
2006: Selected to supply RTDs for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner commercial airliner
2005: Selected to supply RTDs for the “GE Rolls-Royce Fighter Engine Team” F136 turbofan engine which will be the primary propulsion system for the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF)
2005: Selected to supply surface mount RTDs for the AH-64 Apache multi-mission attack helicopter
2004: Commenced implementation of Lean Manufacturing and utilization of Strategy Deployment and Kaizens as the principal tools for Continuous Improvement
2003: Registered to the ISO 9001:2000 quality standard
2002: Qualification of the Model DTN 2010 pressure transmitter to CANDU-LOCA & MSLB IEEE 323-1974/1983 and seismic qualification to IEEE 344-1975 & 1987
2001: Qualification of the Invensys Foxboro N-I/A Smart pressure transmitter to IEEE 323-1974/1983 (mild environment) and IEEE 344-1975/1987
2000: Qualification of Model N97/DTN 2010 pressure transmitter to IEEE 323-1974/1983 (Outside Containment-Harsh Environment) and seismic qualification to IEEE 344-1975 & 1987
1999: Registered to the ISO 9001:1994 quality standard
1998: Acquisition of Beacon Electronics Inc, the world’s largest supplier of temperature sensors for inventory tank gauging (ITG) applications
1996: Seismic qualification of fiber optic data links to IEEE 344-1987
1995: Qualification of the N7000 RTD/TC temperature transmitter to IEEE 344-1975 and IEEE 344-1987
1995: Our facility is expanded to provide 50,000 sq ft (4,600 sq m) space
1993: Acquisition of Camille Bauer Inc (previously known as Tobar and Westinghouse – Veritrak), a leading manufacturer of nuclear qualified pressure transmitters
1994: Acquired the 3M Industrial Communications product line, further strengthening our position in the industrial fiber optic networking market
1993: Selected to supply brake temperature sensors for the C-17 military transport aircraft
1992: Selected for the supply of environmental control system (ECS) temperature sensors for the F-16 aircraft
1992: Awarded contract for the supply of surface mount temperature sensors for the HARM missile program
1991: Selected to supply deicing temperature sensors for the P3 Orion aircraft
1991: Acquisition of the Apec Electronics Inc, a pioneer of industrial fiber optic networking for industrial automation
1989: Acquired license to manufacture and sell the Invensys Foxboro N-E Series nuclear qualified pressure transmitter product family
1987: Qualification of temperature sensors to IEEE 323-1983 and IEEE 344-1987
1981: Qualification of temperature sensors to IEEE 323-1974 and IEEE 344-1975
1981: Move to our current location of Round Rock (near Austin), Texas
1975: Our first nuclear qualified temperature sensors are shipped
